Full-Time Firefighter Position Open!
Our career firefighters make up the three crews that staff Station 1 and respond to any in-district calls. Each crew is on-duty at the station for a 48 hour shift, and then is off-duty for 96 hours.
The Rolla Rural Fire Protection District is accepting applications for a full-time firefighter and hiring list. Certified firefighters are preferred but we will accept non-certified firefighters with the condition of obtaining certificates within 1 year.
No prior experience is required to volunteer with RRFPD. The first step is to fill out an application and drop it off at our office. Next, you’ll be interviewed by a panel of firefighters, who will send their recommendations to our fire chief. If approved by the chief, you’ll complete the necessary paperwork, undergo a drug test, and pass a background investigation. Once everything is cleared, we’ll notify you by phone or email that you’ve been accepted as a probationary volunteer.
As a new volunteer, you’ll attend weekly training sessions on Tuesday nights from 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm and work through our Personal Qualification Standards (PQS) skill book. After completing the PQS and a six-month probationary period, you’ll be evaluated to determine if you can be removed from probation.
If you have any questions about the process, please don’t hesitate to contact us!
